The home of Emma Mcclean of Children of the Tribe
Photography by Carly Brown
Emma lives around the corner from me, but until last Friday afternoon I hadn’t actually visited her home (we always seem to meet out for cocktails). On this maiden voyage, we drank watermelon+mint frappes in her lush garden sanctuary (which her and her husband Steve landscaped themselves with locally sourced tropical plants) while our kids frolicked ‘play date’ style. Her stunning little family home totally inspired me, light and breezy paired back beach-chic – the perfect Byron Bay home.
I could spot Emma as a fellow ‘collector’ a mile away – special little treasures peppered around her home. Over watermelon frappes we chatted about Emma’s keen eye for a vintage treasure and Sarah told me that one day in a Brunswick Heads vintage store she heard Emma exclaim “Oh! A vintage yard stick!! I’ve ALWAYS wanted one of these for Willow’s room!!” Sarah laughed, thinking ‘what is she going to do with a yard stick?’ Well that’s the magic of interior design isn’t it ;)
I’m very excited to share these shots taken by Byron Bay photographer Carly Brown. I asked Emma about the day they shot these gorgeous family snaps…
“The pics were just a snippet of My Home. My Family. My Life. I suppose the 2nd passion i have other than Children of the Tribe renovating and filling our abode with little treasures.
The photo shoot was just our typical Thursday morning. Farmers markets for fresh produce, a green juice a quick play in the front garden followed by a morning at the beach (the simple life). We spend the majority of our time outside and love to entertain. A perfect sanctuary for little kids and afternoon wines.’
Oh and if you’re wondering – yes, their family car, a 1964 Ford Wranch Wagon is the one you might have spotted in past Children of the Tribe shoots… Jealous? I am.
